Yesterday Max received a very special enveloppe via his grandmother. It was from Dees, who read that Max is crazy about dinosaurs.
So sweet Dees took her pair of scissors and made this fantastic paper cut of Max on the back of a dinosaur! Thank you Dees, you've made Max a very happy little fellow.
It is so kind and sweet of you to do so!!!

Can you believe the little goat was asleep? After 15 minutes it was still standing like this. Hmmm, how much I wanted to take this lovely little thing home, of course just by accident...

Haarlemse stripdagen /illustration Biennale

We went to the opening of the first Dutch Illustration Biennale at the Toneelschuur in Haarlem, a theatre (First 2 pics) designed by Joost Zwarte,a famous Dutch illustrator .
Found a graphic novel named KIKI, (which Menno bought for me :), at the Haarlemse stripdagen, an annual comicbook event here in the Netherlands. Years ago I bought a book about Kiki from Paris, the muse of Man Ray and so many other famous artists in the early 1900's. And now to my big surprise I found this graphic novel about her life.
Saw a lecture from Merijn Hos , Love his work!!

Nowadays I wake up at 6.30 without a hassle. I just love the sunlight in the early morning, in my kitchen or while riding my bike to the bus station.

Marken my love.

Just bought this wonderful book "Marken" by photographer Henk van der Leeden.I'ts a place nearby where I love to walk and wonder.
I also love the rich decorated folklore clothes and fabrics from there. A real feast for the eye!

My favourite lunch

Right behind the building where I work, is the Albert Kuyp market (in Amsterdam). It is a great market to find food, fabric, clothes etc, and I love to spend my lunchtime there ofcourse. My fav restaurant for lunch is the Bazaar, where they serve food from Morocco/Turkey. I always go there when the weather is bad, because it gives me the feeling that I am on holiday in some far, exotic place. So you can imagine I've spend many, many lunch hours there, enjoying my bean soup, Turkish coffee and a good book...

My place

Some details of my home. Max's room needs an update,(he's becoming such a big boy now) so today we tried to change it from a cute toddler's room to a big boys room.
It's not finished yet but at least he's happy with the adjustments (a crocodile bed cover and a 50's bowling bench). He also wore his new blue hand-knitted socks today,his grandma made for him. He said they are "blits"...Haha, how cool is that?

It's been busy this week. TOO busy.
Now it's time to remember me again...

Aaahhh!!!
How hard it is to be back in the cold and rainy Holland. I really tried to take the sun with me, but it's only in my eyes now, not in the sky...
We stayed in Tarifa, Spain, and it felt like a tropical undetected place. A bit a weird place, but nice weird. And I love Nice Weird! For me it is a place that smells like Bali, sounds like Spain, looks like Africa/Curacao, tastes like...hmmm... heaven. Sounds quite perfect, doesn't it??
